I know that I have been missing in action, and this is due to the primary fact that the company is making me travel so very often during these past weeks, however strangely enough the equation of more work = more $$$ doesn't seems to apply at all, not to me at least, and if my bosses are reading this blog, you are the best however I still need that pay rises AGAIN or till the cow comes home.
Anyhow, this blog is supposedly to be fun and stressful free, hence to begin for this blog entry, I would like to pay tribute to 2 persons:
Firstly to Mr. Grant Rawlinson who is a friend, a colleague, and lastly a thrash talking slut who is attempting to reach the top of Mount Everest on a 2nd time attempt via the North Ridge route, since he missed it by a 500 meters mark last year. FYI, this guy is no taller, no more handsome and definitely no more funnier than yours truly but I must admit, he has the guts, dog like determination or some will call it stupidity, but hell, he got lots of heart to do what he does.
When he is not in the office, he is going around |
Follow him out on his blog: climbforhope.wordpress.com to learn more about this interesting
Secondly to the Late Ms. Ivy Woo who is a friend, a colleague and a "mother of sort" to all the lucky ones who have the privilege to know her and be touched by her warmth and unconditional love.
For I still recalled this incident vividly as it was yesterday, when I first joined my current company approximately 3 years ago, and unfortunately I was working till late say 9 to 10pm [Do not blink, and Yes, I do work till that late sometimes or ALL THE TIME if my bosses are reading], I only realised that I have accidentally left my access card and car key on my desk and me, I was already out in the main door, the choices were either I took a taxi home or attempt to break the glass door with my bare hands.
I did the unthinkable which is to knock, looking for a "HOPE" and to anyone surprise, out came "HOPE" with this warm smile and she was no other than Ms. Ivy Woo, who was still working, guess I am not the only nut in the office and there goes my chance of being the best employee of the year.
: P
After that incident, I was fortunately to have know her better and often have lunches together with the gang until 1 year ago, she has decided to go up North to
What can I say about Ivy, for she was easily one of the warmest, jovial and positive person you can ever meet, through her eyes, you can see hope, and most importantly "LIFE, a wonderful +LIFE" coupled with laughter and joy.
See that Smile : ) that familiar Ivy Woo's Smile : ( |
She will always be close to the heart and definitely be sorely missed for the unmistakeable laughter. My sincere and heartfelt condolence to the family of this ever great lady, who have led a great life.
God bless the soul as we know that our beloved Ms. Ivy Woo deserve the best and is in a better place now.
On one of the many nights that we actually eat instead of drink, my friend/buddy/slut/homie recommended that we go to China Town to dine in this eatery by the name of Feng Bo Zhuan 风波庄 located at 57 Temple Street, Singapore.
I must admitted that I was a little scared, anxious or even nervous as my friends are quite generous with singing praises at almost anything that taste slightly better than McDonald, nevertheless you only get to live once and I went along with it, since he was paying and like they said, beggars can't be chooser or at least shouldn't be, but I am THE slut, so like always I will demand even if I am not paying.
FYI, this is not a Chinese temple but... perhaps they can operate this as one when they close |
First up, newspaper cutting, as my previous blogs you will know that I am the last person that will trust a newspaper cutting or famous bloggers reviews, since their taste buds may be subjected to the amount of $$$ in the pocket, whereas I am still paying for my own food so I am still unbiased and uncorrupted just yet, and YOU are welcome to be the first.
Newspaper + famous photos "Yawn" |
What's
worst than having to pay for your own food is to have to queue, and we
waited for at least a good 45 minutes to 1 hour on this Saturday night
before we got seated and at least another 30++ minutes before the food got
served.
So if you want me to do a review on your restaurants/eatery/stall, please do pay me disgustingly good money and make sure that I do not need to queue, lastly food MUST be on the table within 10 minutes, or don't fault me for giving a below average rating, or you can also keep the beer coming, just like this instance and I will be a HAPPY man.
So 30 minutes on, and a slightly tipsy me, the first and second dishes made it to the table, namely the red hot pot of beef and the special rice dumpling...
Red spicy hot oily pot of beef and the "Special" |
There is nothing much to say about the red spicy pot of beef, for this is just a red spicy hot oily pot with beef in it and I reckon that you will probably get in any good steamboat places.
1 + n = 1, call me a genius NOW |
See above, these special Chinese dumplings are so special that one person can only order per visit, I wonder what they will do if you go there to do a take-out, will they then restrict the number you can pack out if ONLY one person is there to pack out for a party of 10 or would you need to have all 10 persons there? I reckon that this was just a publicity stunt as the restaurants are definitely capable of making more, if there is demand thus there will be supply.
So if you are wondering what's is inside, see below.
Salt egg yolk with meat and rice, what a combo. |
Next, is one of my personal favorite, it is a dish comprising of pork meat with bun, and boy was the bun done to perfection, for it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the pork was tender and seasoned to a T that goes just too well with beer. Like a marriage made in Heaven, or should I say, too much of heaven in a mouthful.
Burger, Chinese Kung Fu style |
If you are ordering this dish, you NEED to order yourself plenty of beer and if you don't drink, you NEED to start drinking, else just headed down to McDonald for your cheese burger with milk shake and don't bother, like they said: "When in Rome, do what the Romans do" so for this restaurant, only Tsing Tao Beer will do for this restaurant.
Just keep it flowing... Like |
Lastly, we did the all good men will do when dining with their better half and ordered veg like the missies ordered.
How did it tasted, you may ask, and like always, it tasted like veg and as green as they can be
A picture is worth a thousand words and this is just another example |
Verdict Out of Five (5*):
- Quality of Food: 3.75 (I didn't like everything but most of it though)
- Ambiances: 2.5 (Can't say for sure, as we have the privilege of sitting outside but understand that this restaurant is modeled after Wu Xia themed)
- Audiences: 2.5 (Local + PRC + More PRC = Okay LAH)
- Price: 4 (I didn't need to pay, so that's always a good thing, but this is pretty affordable as party of 4 comes up to around +/-S$120)
- Services: 3 (The beer came fast, so that's always a good thing)
- Hygiene: 2.5 (Can't see the kitchen and can't be bother)
